In 1935, the Panalpina company started its business operations. In the 50s and 60s, the company quickly expanded and founded numerous subsidiaries, initially in North America, later on also in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Australia. During the 70s, Panalpina enforced its air freight business from and to the USA. During the 80s and 90s, Panalpina systematically extended its position, amongst others by a combined air- and sea freight traffic from the Far East to Europe, Africa, Oceania and India as well as by commencing freight flights between Luxembourg and the USA, South Africa and Brazil. Today, Panalpina operates a network of approx. 500 offices with own subsidiaries in 90 and agents in another 60 countries and employs far over 14.000 staff members worldwide. This model was produced as a giveaway for the logistic company’s good customers. A partial edition is now also available from the Herpa trademark shop.
