Immediately after the Second World War, in 1945, Gottfried Schönges founded the COLONIA Towing Service in Cologne. It soon became COLONIA Special Vehicles, and the fleet of vehicles was extended. In 1951, the first lowboy was purchased, the first mobile crane in 1956. Today, COLONIA operates more than 250 vehicles, including seventy-five crane vehicles, ranging from 7.5 t industrial cranes to 500 t telescope cranes, as well as specially developed rescue and towing vehicles, forklifts, and heavy-duty vehicles.
