The first C-5 arrived at Westover in Massachusetts back in 1987. Most aircraft now operated have been upgraded to the C-5M Super Galaxy standard with new electronics and new, more efficient and powerful engines. The “Patriot Wing” as the 439th Wing is also called, has the logo of the New England Patriots football team that also call Massachusetts their home, applied to the vertical stabilizers of its C-5s.
