The US Army is also among the numerous operators of the sturdy Pilatus PC-6. Under its military designation UV-20A Chiracahua, the Army based two aircraft in Berlin from 1981 onwards. Due to their STOL-capabilities, they were ideally suited for operations in the tight air space over West-Berlin.
