On the initiative of the Chinese region of Sichuan’s government, Sichuan Airlines was founded in 1986, against fierce resistance from the – at the time – still almighty Civil Aviation Administration of China. Initially, its fleet consisted of Soviet-built types only, which have over the years been replaced by Embraer and Airbus planes. The original of this limited-edition A321-200 (2,000 models produced) with the registration B-2370 replaced the airline’s last Tu-154 in 1998.
