In June 2003, a total of nine A340-300 jets succeeded the increasingly unpopular MD-11s at SWISS International Airlines. The original of our model, HB-JMA, was the first A340 to be registered, and was named after the famous Swiss mountain called the Matterhorn. Since the beginning of 2005, Lufthansa has taken over the economically weak airline step by step, and in 2006, Swiss will also become a member of the Star Alliance.
