21 years ago, the consortium of different manufacturers from Germany, Great Britain and Italy, were commissioned to develop an air superiority fighter. Initially, the project Jäger 90 resulted in enormously varied role specifications, combining the advantages of dedicated fighters, fighter-bombers and reconnaissance aircraft. Political decisions influenced the project again and again making the airplane meanwhile fly but not really serviceable. Its technical specifications as well as the Typhoon’s armament, depending on the mission, are truly impressive. It could already be the world’s best fighter jet, The British Royal Air Force has calculated a requirement of 250 examples and the original of the model with the registration ZJ-802 has already been commissioned.
