In addition to the specially decorated Boeing Dreamliner already announced in the 1/500 and 1/200 scales (item nos. 534079 and 570756, respectively), we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Australian airline with a small series of models from different eras of its history. From the DC-4 to the 707 all the way to the Jumbo Jet, Herpa will be releasing limited editions in both 1/500 and 1/200 throughout the year. The first historic model in this small series in the 1/200 scale is a Douglas DC-4 operated by Qantas for next to three decades. Put into service in 1949 by Qantas Empire Airways, the aircraft flew with Qantas until 1977. Our model sports the livery with the prominent ochre-colored cheatline introduced in 1971, the color symbolizing the airline’s roots in the Australian Outback.
