With the unification of the two German states in 1990, the West German Bundeswehr swallowed the GDR’s Nationale Volksarmee and therefore also 24 Mikojan-Gurejewitsch MiG-29s which were most certainly of interest to NATO, too. In 2003, after all the secrets of this enormously efficient fighter jet had been revealed, they went to Poland. For the farewell from Germany, one example with the registration 29 + 20 was equipped with a special livery displaying the German national colors.
