Since 1967, the holiday airline LTU has flown unchanged in the same design. The recent aspiration of becoming a scheduled service airline was considered to be the perfect opportunity to also acquire a fresher and more innovative outfit, symbolizing new capabilities (a clear route profile, definite focus on long-haul routes, Business Class). On April 20, 2007, the brand-new A330-200, registered D-ALPI touched down at its home airport of Dusseldorf, witnessed by a large audience. Originally, the other 27 LTU jets were also to receive this livery, according to the rotational paintwork schedule, but immediately after its presentation, that livery was already old hat. Since May 2007, jets of LTU, meanwhile taken over by Air Berlin, have begun flying in an yet again revised livery, making the first-ever variant of the LTU design on the D-ALPI a once-only. Only available in December 2007 at one of our Herpa eXtra partner shops in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
