Listprice: €28.95
The 1/200-scale SnapFit model of the KLM Boeing 747-400, announced for the first time with the March/April 2017 releases as item number 611442, will be released with a new registration and with the 100-year logo on the fuselage in an otherwise identical follow-up edition. The previous registration of the model was changed from PH-BFV “City of Vancouver” to PH-BFT “City of Tokyo”. The original with this new registration surprisingly completed KLM’s last regular passenger flight of the legendary jumbo jet on March 29 this year. Actually, the withdrawal of the 747-400 from the Dutch airline’s fleet was not planned until the end of 2021, but the jet was retired one and a half years earlier at short notice due to the significantly lower passenger figures caused by the coronavirus crisis. _x000D_On January 16, 1971, KLM took over its first jumbo jet, and in the end, seven 747-400s in the passenger version and three cargo jumbos were still in service. Under normal circumstances, KLM in particular celebrates the retirement of such legendary aircraft with a grand ceremony and so-called farewell flights, which allow aviation enthusiasts to bid farewell to the airplane on the last special flights. The last landing of this 747 at the end of flight KL686 from Mexico City on March 29, 2020 on runway 36C of Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, however, took place without a large audience, also because of the contact ban imposed in the Netherlands. Fans and friends can now at least grant the last passenger 747-400 of KLM a worthy place right in the middle of their model collection. The follow-up edition will be released with the previous item number 611442, and will be available with the new registration from June onwards._x000D_
