To provide better regional connections from the Dutch Caribbean Island of Curaçao, entrepreneurs from the Dutch Antilles founded Insel Air in 1993, providing services to the neighboring Dutch islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and St. Maarten. The airline was forced to close down in 2019 due to financial issues. Between 2011 and 2018, Insel Air’s fleet also included eight Fokker 50s.
