On March 9, 2005, the first converted Boeing 757-200 with the fuel saving winglets took off on its maiden flight. Continental Airlines and Icelandair were the first customers. The original of this model, a 757-208ET, registered TF-FIO and the name “Valdis” is mainly being operated on Icelandair’s network between the USA and continental Europe. For the first time in the in the 1/200 scale, a Boeing 757-200 comes ready-equipped with winglets.
