Available again! The Historic Aircraft Restauration Society maintains this Lockheed Super Constellation in flying condition at its museum in Albion Park, New South Wales. The Society’s “Connie” is in fact a militarized version of the Super Constellation. It was originally built as a C-121C for the United States Air Force, delivered to the 1608th Military Air Transport Wing based at Charleston, South Carolina in 1955. After serving with various National Guard units, she was stored in Tucson, Arizona in 1977. In 1990, some Society members were in Tucson seeking parts for the Museum’s Lockheed Neptune maritime patrol aircraft and noticed this derelict Super Constellation. After six years of extensive restoration efforts by volunteers, the aircraft reached Sydney by air in 1996. “Connie”, as VH-EAG is lovingly called, is the only flying L-1049 Super Constellation in the world today.
