Flight LY971 – the international calling code for the United Arab Emirates – made history on August 31, 2020. For the first time, an Israeli commercial airline took off from Tel Aviv with destination Abu Dhabi. On the following day, September1, the El Al Boeing 737-900 headed back to Tel Aviv as flight 972 – the international dialing code for Israel. With “peace” painted above the cockpit in Arabic, English and Hebrew, this premiere is a first step in the normalization of relations between the two countries. A display stand will be included with this special release.
