Air BP is British Petroleum’s designation for aviation fuels of all kinds, and a Cessna 172 serves as an original advertising medium for the division. The Cessna has been a “classic in sky” for decades, just as if Volkswagen were still producing the Beetle or Morris/Austin its Mini in original form today. Indeed, the C172 has been manufactured in virtually unmodified form since 1960. It is unrivalled as a classic four-seat sports- and training airplane, having sold more than 10,000 times. The original of this model is an F-172N with the registration D-EDMT, manufactured by Reims Aviation under license, which is standard equipped with an engineering dinosaur in the shape of its 160 HP 6-cylinder Lycoming. Thus powered, it nevertheless reaches a maximum speed of 250 km/h, a service ceiling of 4,000 meters as well as a 1,200 km range.
