American Airlines Douglas DC-3

Product number: 560733
Listprice: €19.00
In 1940, American Airlines®, as the launching carrier, commissioned NC21798 as “Flagship Knoxville”, an aircraft that later was to be called the DC-3, but had been developed as the Douglas Sleeper Transport. Two years later, the airplane had to be returned to the US Army Air Force due to the war, but American Airlines® retrieved it as early as in 1943, and operated the aircraft for scheduled air service until 1948. Since 1993, the airplane has been an exhibit of the C.R. Smith museum in Fort Worth, named after American Airlines®’ longtime president. For the first time this legendary DC-3 model is released in the 1/400 scale.
