The distinguishing features of this Jumbo jet are its extend-ed upper deck, the extended wings with their winglets, and its highly developed landing gear which, in the original size, has to cope with almost 386 metric tons (425 avoir. tons) of maximum take-off weight. These characteristics of the Boeing 747-400 can be found true to the last detail on the model as well, and the refined landing gear technology was functionally converted. Just like the big original, when it lands, the model can also touch down on the rear wheels at first before the entire weight presses down the landing gear. The coil springs which keep the landing gear in its position have a diameter of exactly 1.4 mm (or 0.055 in.), but in spite of this delicate mechanism, the model’s landing gear are just as robust as in reality. With a length of 353 mm (13.9 in.), a wingspan of 323 mm (12.7 in.) and a height of 97 mm (3.8 in.), the super jumbo Boeing 747-400 with the detailed Air New Zealand Pacific Wave livery is the biggest model of the Premium Series — at least so far. It weighs no less than 360 grams (12.7 ounces), consists of 154 single components, carries more than 120 imprints and stampings, and has gone through ten stencil paint application. Perfection down to the last detail - the landing gear of this Boeing 747-400 shows perfectly what that means.
