In the 50s, the Dutch KLM rendered Air Ceylon considerable assistance and made a “Super Constellation” from their fleet available for two years. Air Ceylon carried over the design, only changed KLM blue into the red and yellow national colors, and so an attractive airliner was born. The original of this model belonged to the fleet as 4R-ACH Mahadevi from 1958 to 1959, until it was displaced by a Lockheed Electra, again leased from KLM.
