The at the Laage air base near Rostock fighter squadron 73 is the first and only training squadron for the new all-purpose fighter EF 2000, called the Eurofighter in Germany and Austria, but elsewhere called Typhoon. The EF 2000, initially designed as Jäger 90 in 1983, is currently being introduced at the air force after seemingly endless difficulties and enormously increased system costs.
