The 8series BMW was launched in 1989 at the IAA in Frankfurt and was the successor of the 6series. But as ever so often, it was bigger and more expensive than its predecessor. The 8series was only available as coupé. The technology and the engines were partially from the back then current 7series. The 8series (internal type name E31) was manufactured and distributed until 1999. But the sales count remained far behind the expectations. During the production period 1989 until 1999, only 30.000 examples were manufactured. The Herpa model is a re-edition of the in July 1990 presented H0-model. This time in calypso red and algea green metallic with many additional detail prints.
