A special task force (SEK) is a special unit of the police in Germany. The police of each federal state comprise of at least one special task force. SEK officers are trained for counterterrorism, hostage rescue and police operations. In special security risk situations they are deployed preemptively (for instance to protect state visitors) as well as operational (on demand of the regular police). The task forces are comparable with the SWAT-teams of the US-American police. A partial edition is now also available in the Herpa brands store.
