Shortly after cardinal Josef Ratzinger’s election to become pope, the papal Golf turned up on the internet. The car was previously registered to Ratzinger, but was mostly driven by a clerk. Lucky for the German student though, who discovered the previous owner on the registration document. A casino in the USA purchased the Golf for a proud price of 188,938.88 Euros. The „small“ papal Golf was produced in 2006 exclusively for Bavarian retailers.
