In 1984, when the Bornheim-Roisdorf central market began developing into the most important distribution center for fresh fruit and vegetables, Frank-Peter Vendel, a fruits and vegetable farmer, founded a transportation company. His business started out with the distribution of goods to local stores. As the demand increased, Vendel began equipping his vehicles with cooling units. By doing this and due to the favorable location of the company, Vendel was able to deliver longer distances. Today, more than 70 employees work for the Vendel Company, which operates across Europe.
