The Vampire was one of the most successful first-generation jet fighters, over 3,700 having been built and operated by no less than twelve air forces. No 112 Squadron, deployed to Fassberg in Northern Germany in 1951, was one of the many British units operation the type. The unit is also called the “Sharkmouth Squadron” as it was the first to apply those markings to their aircraft during World War II.
