The A-10 was developed as an attack aircraft against ground vehicles. Next to a multitude of external armament, the aircraft is basically built around a gigantic, seven-barrel canon in the forward fuselage, that can tackle even heavily armoured vehicles. Also nicknamed Warthog by its pilots, the A-10 has many times proven its capabilities and reliability in numerous conflicts throughout the past decades and is supposed to remain in service through to at least 2028.
