The B-58 Hustler was the first supersonic bomber to enter service in the world. Deliveries of this high-performance aircraft to the U.S. Air Force’s Strategic Air Command started March 1960, the 43rd Bombardment Wing at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas being the first unit to be equipped. Only ten years later, fifty years ago, the entire fleet of the attractive delta-winged Hustler was retired.
