With a range of over 16,000 kilometers (10,000 miles), the -500 series is still the reigning record holder in ultra-long distance flights. Due to low demand, also from passengers for flights of 15 or more hours, production was stopped after 32 units. Currently, Thai still operates four A340-500s, their future however is uncertain.
