The 19 Typhoons delivered to the Spanish air force so far are based at Ala 11 at Morón Air Base in Andalusia. The Spanish air force has designated the double-seater Typhoon the CE.16 and the single-seater version C.16. In Spain, they replace the Mirage F1 and in time also a part of the EF-18A/B “Hornet” fleet. The Spanish Typhoons from Morón will furthermore be one of the first to receive the new IRIS-T short-range air-to-air guided missiles.
