Russian Air Force Sukhoi SU-27 "Lipetsk-Shark"

Near the Central Russian city of Lipetsk, approx. 400 km south of Moscow, the Russian Air Force maintains a big training center for future interceptor pilots – a sort of counterpart to the American “Top Gun” training. They fly against each other in Sukhoi SU-27s, NATO codename “Flanker”. Officially, it is the 4th Combat and Conversion Center (4 TsBP I PLS). The SU-27 launched in 1997 is one of the best and most powerful fighter airplanes worldwide and compares in its overall capabilities with the American F-15 “Eagle”. About 450 machines are operated by the “Armed Forces of the Russian Federation”, BBC for short. During training, it used as the hostile “aggressor” aircraft, hence the feisty shark on either side of the fuselage.
