Roco / Herpa transport wagon set with loading

Product number: 154871
Listprice: €189.00
In cooperation with ROCO, Herpa presents a railway car set with 18 miniature models from the former GDR’s street scene, exclusively produced for this set. The six stake cars, based on the Deutschen Reichsbahn carry different car numbers. The cargo: 5x Trabant 601S, 4x Trabant 601 “Universal”, 4x Wartburg 353, 4x Wartburg 353-W, 1 Moskwitsch 403 – all exclusively designed for this set. In the times before the German reunification, the GDR’s street scene had been very “conservative”. The manufacturing time of both GDR-own two-stroke engine types “Wartburg” and “Trabant” amounted to decades, the delivery time was usually longer then entire model cycles of western cars. The “Wartburg” 353 and its derivations (353-W and 1.3) were manufactured 1.3 million times between 1966 and 1991. The “Trabant” 601 was launched in 1964 and kept in its form until the four-stroke engine (1.1) in 1991. Over 2.8 million sedans and station wagons were manufactured. Similar the situation in the COMECON sister states. Cars were manufactured in Czechoslovakia, Poland, Rumania and Russia, the model range was manageable and stable, the delivery times long. The Russian “Moskwitsch” was also known in the West and considered to be indestructible - at least mechanical-wise. In the GDR however – due to the state-directed economy, it was presumed to be rather exotic.
