The professional fire brigades are available in large cities and metropolitan areas. Full -time firefighters work there who are optimally trained and are ready for operational cases around the clock. Around 970 people work at the Dortmund professional fire brigade. In addition to the extinguishing trains, they occupy ambulances, emergency medical vehicles and numerous special units. There are six fire and rescue guards (Stadtmitte, Eving, Hörde, Marten, Eichlinghofen and Mengede) and three pure fire guards (Neuatt, Scharnhorst and Airport). The fire extinguishing boat in the port base is supervised by the Eving fire and rescue station. According to good tradition, a fire engine from the extensive fleet of the Dortmund professional fire brigade was also selected for the 2020 trade fair. It is the DLK 26, designed as a Rosenbauer joint wire ladder with Metz technology on Mercedes-Benz Atego chassis. Detailed prints and an extremely filigree execution of the ladder park mark this model, which also convinces with many moving parts.
