The family-owned Schmitt company, based in Peterslahr in the Westerwald region, began their operations with a small bakery, followed by selling coal. In 1939, Peter Schmitt founded his family’s transportation company – the basis of the company as it is today. His oldest son Hans K. Schmitt soon assisted him, and developed the company to its current size.
