Lufthansa Boeing 727-200 - 50th Anniversary of 727-200 introduction at Lufthansa – D-ABCI “Karlsruhe“

The history of the Boeing 727 “Europa Jets”, as they were called by Lufthansa, started back in 1964 with the delivery of the original short-fuselage version of the tri-jet. 50 years ago, in 1971, the first stretched 727-200, named for the city of Karlsruhe, entered service. No less than 33 more of this classic airliner were to follow and remained in service on inner-European routes up to 1993.
