In a limited edition of 1,000 items, a L1011-385 “TriStar 1” model in the rare LTU-interim livery from the early 90s will be released. The L-1011-385 – the particular code resulting from the aircraft’s maximum take-off weight of 385,000 pounds (175,000 kg) – was delivered in 1974 to Eastern Airlines and after their bankruptcy on July 9, 1991, was leased by LTU and registered there as D-AERC. For reasons of cost, the Eastern Airlines livery was replaced with a livery which deviated slightly from the LTU standard uniform. In this guise, the TriStar only flew for LTU for 1 ½ years. On December 1, 1992, its was returned to the leasing company and experienced an unusual end in August 1997. The new buyer Nortek Repair used this aircraft for anti-terrorist testing and documentation purposes, displayed vividly in a demonstration film showing how a bomb, hidden in a shoe, could destroy the entire fuselage.
