The roots of LAN Cargo and LAN Chile Airlines go all the way back to 1929, the founding year of the originally named Linea Aeropostal Santiago-Arica. Just like with most other companies of that time, the main focus had been mail transport at first. Since August 2004, the 767-316F with the registration N321LA has been the first freighter version 767 with the new colors of LAN Chile which have renamed the airline to simply LAN. Furthermore it is the first Herpa-produced model with the airline’s new livery. The model was ordered from the airline and Boeing in a limited edition. 1,000 models of this edition have been reserved exclusively for Herpa eXtra partners.
