At the end of 2022, Boeing handed over the first of two new 747-8 cargo aircraft to Atlas Air and their long-term charter customer, freight giant Kuehne+Nagel. Both 747s, named “Inspire” and “Empower” will expand the logistics company’s Transpacific network, providing better connectivity with the growing Asia-Pacific region. Although the aircraft will surely be operating for decades to come, the delivery of these two aircraft also marks the end of production of the iconic “Queen of the Skies”, which had spanned more than half a century since entering service back in 1970.
