Shortly before the remaining fleet of A330 aircraft is scheduled to be replaced by the state-of-the-art Airbus A350, it is high time to announce and release a model of the A330-200 in the current "smiling dolphin" color scheme in the 1/500 scale. KLM was for decades a (McDonnell) Douglas, and later Boeing, customer. The A330 when introduced two decades ago was the only Airbus-built aircraft in the fleet of the Dutch airline. That has recently changed due to the introduction of the A321neo and now the brand new A350.
