The Japanese air force has been called Japan Self Defense Force since the American occupation. JASDF operates a number of tactical C-130 transporters,and in case it becomes necessary for defense, their range is sufficient to drop parachute troops over North Korea. That has, however, never been necessary, which is why the C-130H with the registration 05-1084carries an almost civilian blue livery.
