The municipal fire brigade Bremen is positioned according to the first aid law of Bremen and, together with the auxiliary fire brigade, constitutes a public fire brigade. It consists of about 500 fire fighting officers and 600 voluntary forces. The municipal fire brigade commands six combined fire- and ambulance stations as well as five ambulance stations. The Bremen fire brigade was one of the first German fire brigades to receive the first motorized fire engine in 1907.
