Translated literally, "gravel brings luck" is the motto of the gravel producer Glück (German for 'luck'), operating out of the Bavarian town of Gräfelfing. The location of the company is not a result of a streak of luck, but rather an outcome of the last ice age: the 10,000 year old deposits in the Wurm valley dating back to the last ice age (quaternary geologic period) are presorted, ground, and cleansed by natural influences such as varying temperatures, pressure, and erosion. Only the most weather-resistant sand and gravel of a very high purity endured through this natural selection.
