In May 1980, Iberia launched its Boeing 747-256B with the registration EC-DIB, named ”Cervantes”, the second of a totalof six new-generation jumbos. Compared to its predecessor 747-100, the -200 had first and foremost an improved range.After twenty-five years of service, Iberia retired its last 747-200 on May 17, 2005. Ten A340-600s are now operated onlonghaul routes. To mark the end of the 747-200 era at Iberia, Herpa releases the jet in the 1/200 scale.
