For the first time, an old-timer model based on an original from Henschel is released: The HS 140. The Henschel Company began manufacturing trucks and busses in 1925. In 1963, the bus division was discontinued. In 1964, the company was taken over by the Rheinstahl-Group, to which Hanomag Company belonged. Hanomag had been manufacturing trucks since the 1930s. In 1969, both companies merged and became the Hanomag- Henschel Company. Daimler Benz purchased the majority of Hanomag-Henschel in 1969. Since 1970, both companies began producing the same vehicles under both company names. In 1971, Mercedes took over Hanomag-Henschel completely, finally ending the production of Hanomag-Henschel vehicles in 1975.
