In 1977, Lufthansa founded its subsidiary German Cargo Services, which initially operated Boeing 707s, before being replaced by this ultimate version of the DC-8. Originally delivered to Flying Tigers in 1968, D-ADUA remained in the fleet until 1996, even following the incorporation under the name Lufthansa Cargo three years earlier.
