After the collapse of Balkan Bulgarian Airlines in 2002, Bulgaria Air was formed the same year as the new flag carrier for the Southeastern Europe country. Today it operates a mixed fleet of short- and medium-range Embraer E190, A220 and A320 family aircraft.
