The classic Soviet-era airliner for the first time in the 1/200 scale. The Ilyushin IL-18 was first delivered to Aeroflot in 1959 and, along with the Soviet Air Force, operated around 600 aircraft of this type. A further 100 were exported, including 13 to Bulgaria’s national carrier. From the 1960’s on, the IL-18 was an essential part in the development and expansion of package tourism to Bulgaria’s Black Sea beaches. A final few aircraft remained in Balkan’s fleet until the end of the millennium.
