In April 25, 1926 a young pilot and flight instructor named Charles Lindbergh joined Missouri-based Robertson Aircraft Corporation to fly mail on a postal route between St. Louis and Chicago. That first flight was the humble beginning of the world’s largest airline that we know today in terms of passengers carried and daily flights flown. Following numerous mergers and acquisitions, the conglomerate of airlines was named American Airways in 1930, before being renamed American Air Lines four years later. Fittingly, American has applied the Flagship heritage color scheme to its current flagship, the Boeing 777-300ER. The iconic orange lightning bolt motif originally debuted nearly 90 years ago on the Douglas DC-3. The DC-3s were named based on cities the airline served at the time, such as "Flagship Knoxville" which is on display in the CR Smith Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. This special anniversary Triple Seven will initially be released in the 1/500 and 1/200 scales.
