Air Canada commemorates its predecessor, Trans Canada Air Lines, formed back in 1937, with this latest retro-jet. In 1965 the airline was officially renamed Air Canada, after carrying that name already for some time in the French-speaking regions of the country. The brand new A220 succeeds an A319 that for 20 years sported a similar TCA retro color scheme, ensuring that the Trans Canada design lives on.
