The Autobahn-police Berlin emerged from the major police reform in 1974 and is still today responsible for all federal motorways in the state Berlin. It includes an extensive route network of approx. 80 km with two interchanges, four three-leg interchanges, 54 grade-separated interchanges and nine tunnels. To efficiently solve the tasks, the autobahn police has noticeable vehicles which differ from the regular radio cars in terms of looks, motorization and equipment. This BAB patrol car is a station wagon with built-in recording speedometer. The original of this model, a 5er BMW touring, is also elaborately imprinted with special warning marks in the front- and rear area.
